Today is our last class for my blog, though nothing will change before grades are posted on the 16th. After that, this blog will turn into one of two things. I'll either; stop writing, or turn this into a doll blog. So.. we shall see. Last week we had finals, so for the last week or so we are working on last projects. The book cover project was actually canceled but we could still do one if we wanted extra credit, so here is mine.

I think after this class is done, I'll be using this for random doll rants, so be prepared!

Today I had fun with composite images! Here is Maurice and Chicago.

And then I also finished my Winona book cover.

I feel rather photo victorious. Huzzah! I also think I have figured out what book cover to do for my final project for my class. I would like to redo the Twilight book cover, I like the apple, but think it needs something fang-like. I honestly didn't read the first Twilight book for a while because I thought it was another Snow White story, I had no idea it contained vampires. So.. fangs and apples?

Last Tuesday we worked on an exercise in class for about half the time, and then ... there was a fire at Parkland. We all evacuated but I wasn't able to update due to not being.. in the building. Today we are working on posterizing a photo for a book cover. We are only about half way through but I don't think I'll be able to post the finished one until next week. Here is the photo we started with:

It's definitely something think I will be trying this again some time in the future it was rather fun. :D

I'm not dead, I swear, we've been so busy in class lately I haven't had time to post any of my work. Hopefully next week I can finally post pictures of some of the projects I have been working on, including a map exercise, and then our newest project, a map. Mine is going to be a map of all of the Hello Kitty Stores in Japan, and it's going to be as much pink as I can force it to be! But sadly class is already over so... next time!

10-11-11

So next year on today it will be 10-11-12 for some reason it always amuses me when the days count themselves up. The last time we will see that will be on 12-13-14 after that it won't happen again for almost a hundred years. Crazy how somethings work. Today I don't have any work of my own to post because it was... midterms! (Well sort of, it was quiz 1 of 2 the second one being the last week of the semester, so I don't know about you but it sounds an awful lot like a midterm). We also celebrated Columbus Day yesterday, I know I love it, let's give all the kids a day off to celebrate the guy who found something that was already there and gave an entire nation smallpox, which then killed most of them! Aren't holidays great?

It's October! I've made it through the first 2 months of school and it's also shockingly almost midterms too! I was MIA on Tuesday because I spent most of my time working on my titles for the MLP project. I have finally completed mine, so... here are my opening credits to My Little Pony Friendship is Magic! I'm rather proud, and I also liked that it gave me an excuse to watch the whole series again. :D

So, apparently it's not the end of September, for some reason when I woke up this morning I couldn't stop thinking it was the 30th. But of course my computer has set me straight, at least I didn't lose a day then. Today we worked on turning our rhythm sketches into illustrator and then inDesign projects. So.... here is my final with all the different types of music, but apparently not the iD because they don't like to share.

Just imagine me having listened to Classical, Jazz, Hip Hop, Bluegrass, Death Metal, and Broadway. And then having drawn those lines, it like almost makes sense, honest.

Today we worked on some concept sketches for our movie credits, as well as listening to some music and then trying to think about how they would have a visual rhythm. I decided to share one of my scans from my movie credits, and also use it to further explain why I am not a drawer/illustrator/painter or anything else of that nature. I can't draw for beans. Thank goodness for the computer, without it I'd never be able to become an art student.

9-22-11 Part 2

During the second half of class today we learned about our project 2 that we will be starting here shortly. We are to make the opening credits to our favorite movie or show. I have decided to use a show that one of my best friends is totally bonkers for, and use it as an excuse to pick up the first season on DVD.. >.> That amazing, stupendius, show is..... My Little Pony Friendship is Magic! Let the bronie'ing begin!

On Tuesday we did another exercise using Adobe Illustrator, here is my best of this project. I find these exercises a bit repetitive, but at least they look nice and professional at the end. Also I've found a new blog layout that I most likely will be switching to. So be prepared for not as much pink in the next day or 2!

We finished up our finishing touches on our project 1 today, I redid some of the text and layout of mine because I felt it was too much of a "wall of text". So without further ado, here is my final for project 1!

I've now continued to work on the MoMA Saul Bass sketch this time using a straight edge to help clean up the lines on my flier. I'm really looking forward to when we can just use illustrator it will make this so much easier because I hate drawing.

On Thursday we worked on full page mock ups of our first project for school. We are to make a flier for for an art event at MoMA. Here is one of my full page mock ups.

Today is September first! It is also the day we made grids in class. We were to choose a photo we found from the net and then if it had good lines it we were to put it on a grid. I grabbed one of my photos of my dolls from deviantART, because I thought this photo specifically had great lines such as horizon and then the lines of the doll as well. :D

I've decided to post as I save my work for classes, so you get a date and not a catchy title! Take that! (I honestly just hate coming up with titles. Today... we got to "learn" how to use a scanner. I say learn because it's the exact same scanners we had in my digital photography class.. and they are also nice and easy to use. :D So, since we had to scan a.. something. I scanned part of the one of my folders. Here is my shiny scanned thing!
